About The Transition Academy (TTA):
The Transition Academy (TTA) is a pioneering disability college and career preparation center that was established in 2019. Our fundamental mission is to transform the lives of youth with disabilities by making economic inclusion a reality. We are particularly focused on empowering young people of color who have historically faced systemic barriers.
Position Summary:
The Transition Academy is in search of two Seasonal Program Associates for 2024 Spring and Summer semesters. Associates will provide real-world learning experiences for high school students with disabilities. Associates’ primary roles are to assist with hands-on job skills training experiences – in classrooms and on field trips.
Reporting and Relationships:
Program Associates report to the Program Manager and work as part of a cross-trained team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the TTA team to design, coordinate, and implement programs that support the transition of youth with disabilities, ages 14-21, into college and career pathways.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partnering schools, disability-supporting agencies, employers, and community stakeholders.
- Support youth in exploring their interests, talents, and skills, and guide them in identifying appropriate educational and career opportunities.
- Facilitate workshops, group activities, and individual sessions to enhance life skills, employability, and postsecondary readiness.
- Maintain accurate program records and data, ensuring the collection of relevant documentation for program evaluation.
Desired Qualifications:
- College degree or industry certification in a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered.
- Experience in program coordination or youth services.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- A commitment to fostering inclusivity and a passion for serving youth with disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including program participants, educators, and community partners.
